Heading for Revenge 03/29/2008

Native story of the man and the burning boat incorporated as an addition to Nall Mann’s story by Historian Cire Darb
The villagers gathered at the river’s edge staring at the sky.   A plume of black smoke traveled through the sky coming closer and closer.   Then they saw it coming around the bend in the river  -a  large Steam Wheeler awash in flames.  Like a fiery beast straight out of hell.  The large boat headed straight for the opposite shore.   The villagers watched in fear as the boat crashed into the bank of the river at full speed  disintegrating as it the fire leapt from the boat and into the trees lining the river.
Then a small boy shouted pointing along the shore on their side of the river as a man approached.   The villagers grabbed their spears fearful of this man. --but the man gave them no notice at all and just walked right past them .  Water dripped from his clothing as he passed.  They say his eyes were  on fire just like the boat.
